Gabrielle and Carlos are enjoying being pampered at Mrs. Hildebrand’s, who’s invited the whole family to stay for the weekend. Gaby has second thoughts, however, when Mrs. Hildebrand encourages the girls to call her “Grandma.” They make excuses to leave for Celia’s birthday party, but Mrs.
Hildebrand makes a surprise appearance, wanting to take Celia shopping for an expensive, antique doll. Carlos has warned Gaby not to alienate Mrs. Hildebrand, as she has a lot of pull at the country club but Gaby tells her, “Knock it off. This whole creepy, clingy, ‘I am your grandma’ routine. It’s like you’re trying to buy us, but we’re not for sale, so just back off.”
Mrs. Hildebrand’s next move is to call the president of the country club and tell him that Carlos’s last massage with her was “highly inappropriate” and that he is “a liability the club can’t afford.”
